MEDA

This project is a new startup collaborative effort between MEDA, The Working Centre, The House of Friendship and the local MEDA chapter members. MEDA will provide the technical expertise, program start-up and training materials. The Working Centre will provide in kind support through use of their building. The House of Friendship will refer individuals. MEDA chapter members will support this project through financial contributions. This program seeks to fill the gap in service to low-income entrepreneurs who cannot access government services or commercial banking institutions.

The program will enable the working poor and/or underemployed who have an idea for a small/micro business but require assistance in its development.

The program will seek to turn business dreams into reality enabling entrepreneurs to become economically independent, self-confident and contributors to the local economy through creative partnerships with related organizations. The primary focus is on very practical, hands-on training and coaching for low to moderate income entrepreneurs with a vision for business development or expansion through an 8-10 week “Foundations” business planning curriculum.

The Foundation’s contribution of $30,000 to the KW Working Centre helps support the cost of establishing and implementing the MEDA Waterloo Region ASSETS Project.
