In 2009, the Lyle S. Hallman Foundation will contribute over $1million dollars to charitable organizations with current grant agreements in support of health, education and children’s initiatives in Waterloo Region. The Foundation recognizes most projects require longer term support to develop and has made several multi-year grant commitments. Over thirty organizations working in communities in Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo, and in the Townships of North Dumfries, Wilmot, Woolwich and Wellesley will receive support this year. Honouring our grant commitments to these groups is the Foundation’s priority in 2009.
As a result, the Foundation’s grant budget for 2009 is fully committed. The Foundation has therefore suspended its annual call for proposals for this year.
The current financial crisis is having a negative impact on both charitable organizations and charitable donors. In these difficult times, the Foundation believes it is important to remain steady in our support of the organizations with which we have current commitments. We will also continue to work cooperatively with other community leaders to address the needs in our community and to build its capacity.
We recognize and appreciate the work being done by community agencies, their staff, boards and volunteers. We understand you may have further questions and we invite your feedback.
