   In-School Mentoring Growth & Expansion

A grant to assist Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cambridge to work together with the Cambridge and North Dumfries school boards to provide the In-School Mentoring Expansion and the addition of the Adult In-School Mentors.

Cambridge Shelter Corporation

   Relapse Prevention Program

The Relapse Prevention Program will work with people who have returned to the community after successfully completing an addiction rehabilitation treatment program. The goal is to provide people with the skills and tools necessary to cope with day to day living. The grant includes a contribution towards the purchase a second facility.

Get Active Now has developed a holistic project that seeks to transform Waterloo Region into a vibrant community in terms of accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities, creating a model for all Ontario. This grant helps with the cost of developing a Preschool Activity Bags to assist children with disabilities to more fully participate in preschool activities.

kidsLINK

   Tools for Life: A relationship problem solving curriculum.

Tools for Life is a curriculum aimed at children in junior kindergarten to grades three.

KidsLINK has completed a major redesign of the program based on program assessments best practices from current research. In addition, the new design includes an approach to have KidsLINK train teachers to deliver the program in order to have the program reach more children. The Foundation’s grant supports the implementation of the revised curriculum and approach.

   Every Child Outdoors: rare Environmental Education in Waterloo Region

The Foundation’s support will enable rare to hire a senior educator to implement the “Chain of Learning Outdoor Education Program” with schools in both boards of education. rare wants to create a shift in the way students think about our environment and their role in saving it, and believe that every child should have an outdoor education and first-hand opportunities to adopt conservation and energy-awareness values.

   Children's Library within West Waterloo District Branch Library

This is a capital grant towards the costs of building the children's library in the new branch library being constructed as part of a shared 65,000 square library-recreation facility with the YMCA of Kitchener Waterloo. The project will support early literacy and lifelong learning in the growing population on the west side of Waterloo.

Waterloo Regional Arts Council / Alliance for a Grand Community

   Waterloo Region ArtsSmarts program development project

ArtsSmarts is the largest national children’s initiative dedicated to improving the lives and learning capacity of children by injecting arts into their academic programmes. The grant funds the exploration of possibilities for launching an ArtsSmarts program in Waterloo Region, including community consultation, building partnerships, program design and a pilot project.
