Our mission
The Lyle S. Hallman Foundation is a granting foundation continuing a tradition of giving, focused in its home of Waterloo Region, supporting health, education and children’s initiatives that inspire and grow individual and community potential.
The Lyle S. Hallman Foundation values are based on a deep-rooted sense of responsibility to its community and a belief that it is better to work in partnership than in isolation.
The Foundation values opportunities to maximize its investment in health, education and children by encouraging the involvement of others.
We give priority to prevention and early intervention initiatives.
We value cooperation between different agencies that results in a more integrated, community approach.
We believe in engaged philanthropy. We are both responsive and proactive – we respond to requests for funding and we initiate community discussions and projects to address the Foundation’s mission.
The Lyle S. Hallman Foundation is a member of Philanthropic Foundations Canada (PFC), and as part of its membership adheres to the PFC values and ethical principles.
In September 2003, the late Waterloo Region builder and developer Lyle Shantz Hallman established the Lyle S. Hallman Foundation.
Lyle Hallman was a generous philanthropist who during the course of his lifetime (1922-2003) worked to make a lasting difference in the lives of the people of his home community of Waterloo Region. His strong commitment to education, health and children is reflected in the mission of the Foundation.
